Well, as I promised yesterday, I have been having a think about the blog and what I want to do with it, and I’m come up with a few things. One of those things is starting today, so I’d like to introduce you to my new Best in Show* series. Whenever I fancy (it won’t always be on a Friday), I am going to compile a list of five of my favourite things within a particular category. Sometimes it will be links, sometimes things I want to buy, sometimes music I have heard, sometimes books, and, well, you get the idea. I know that top five lists are prevalent across the blogosphere, but I think that is probably testament to how well they work, rather than anything else!

* This is very much a work-in-progress title – I am trying to come up with something better but I’m having a bit of trouble!

This hasn’t been the greatest of starts to 2012, blogging-wise. I feel like I’ve got stuck in a writing rut, and aside from my series on Reasons to be Cheerful in 2012, along with my weekly Project 366 posts, I am not posting but at all, and this has to stop! The problem is, as it so often is, that I am never quite sure what I want out of this here blog. I want it to reflect me, but I don’t want it to veer too far towards being a personal blog. I look at other blogs, and I really like what I see, but I don’t know how to transfer that to my own blog. I don’t have a huge readership, and that’s fine by me really; I know that my friends and some of my family enjoying reading what I have to say, and there are others out there who I have connected with in various different ways who pop by from time to time, which is nice too.

I don’t want this to become a moany post about what all that is wrong with my blog; I just wanted to post something that wasn’t one of my ongoing series! So I thought I would tell you what the problem is, and hopefully that will help me to sort my head out and work out where I want to go with this blogging malarkey. I used to have lots of different posts that I would work on: links that I would share with you, wishlists of things that I would buy if I had the money, attractive men. But somewhere along the way that has all vanished, and now I’m left with this, and unfortunately this is very much at all!

One of the main problems is that I no longer have my own computer. My laptop died a death some time ago, and I am left to sharing my dad’s computer. This isn’t ideal, because I can’t use it all the time and so sometimes when inspiration strikes (though those times have been few and far between lately), I have to wait until I can use the computer in order to post.

I am going to try and get a shifty on with some of the items on my 30 Before 30 list, because I am simply unwilling to get to November and have achieved very little, again! So hopefully there is some blogging potential in there. I am also making my way through my separate aims of 52 New Films in 52 Weeks (I am up to 7 so far – very good for me!), and of 75 books in 2012 (6 – a bit of a slow burner!).

In the meantime, I think I need to go away and have a proper think about Lady Writer (still trying to come up with a better name, by the way!). I am going to have to go back and take a look at some of my better posts and see what I was doing right! Sorry for the boring post, I just wanted you all to know what is going on with this blog right now! Until next time,
